The Town of Camden completed its Downtown Master Plan in 2012.  Recommendations contained in the Plan included the construction of a riverwalk as not only a means to better utilize one of the many natural assets we have but also as a way to bring residents from neighborhoods to and from our downtown and Shirttail Point Park.  Another benefit is that will provide a means of wayfinding in and around our downtown area.

Another recommendation in the  Downtown Master Plan included determining the best uses of the Camden Public Landing and developing a redesign to blend parking, working waterfront, and pedestrian focused green space.

With the Camden Select Board's approval, the Town applied for and received 2 separate grants supporting schematic design and construction cost estimates for both projects.  A Request for Proposals was created and advertised to solicit proposals from consulting firms.  A decision was made by the Town to combine the two projects into one comprehensive project as they clearly have overlapping elements;  the conceptual riverwalk would begin at Shirttail Point Park and end at the boardwalk of the Camden Public Landing.

As this effort continues, this page will continue to be updated with information relevant to the projects.
