Our primary job is to protect the citizens and property of Camden, Maine (read the full mission statement). This includes more than just putting out fires--it means being "first responders" to any emergency incident in town. It also means actively educating the public about safety, working with the town's Code Enforcement Officer to eliminate hazards, and being involved in good causes throughout the community.
The Department has three full-time staff (the Chief and 2 firefighters) and over 40 on-call members of Atlantic Engine Company No. 2., an incorporated nonprofit organization that provides personnel and support to the Camden Fire Department. Members are compensated by the town when responding to calls and training.
