Camden's Town Meeting serves the same function as the State Legislature or Congress; it's the Town legislative body and responsible for passing laws and adopting a budget. Town Meeting is also the Town's electorate, where municipal officials are elected. Camden's citizens, not the Select Board, are directly responsible for making laws and the raising and spending of their tax money. For this reason citizen participation is crucial.
